Youth Leaders: Brandon Comella (high school) and Micah Sanders (middle school)
Our Youth Ministry Mission Statement
Millwood Community Presbyterian Church is creating and providing an environment and avenues to stimulate, grow, develop, nurture, and lead the youth of our community to a life in Christ.
Sunday Morning "Coffee House"
Coffee House is our Sunday morning “Sunday School.” We meet from about 11:00 a.m. to noon. We spend this time together and use it more as a discipleship piece for the middle school and high school students. We are currently going through the book of Mark and really diving into the Life of Jesus.
Sunday Morning Worship (and pancakes)
We attend the 10 a.m. worship service and sit together. Afterward, we meet in the front entryway of the church, and walk over to The Crossing Youth Center where we have golden, hot, delicious pancakes and study Jesus’ life in the Bible. If you come late, that's okay, there’s a place at the table for you!
Wyldlife (Middle School Ministry)
Our Jr. High ministry is “Wyldlife,” - the middle-school version of Young Life, a nationwide network of Christ-centered outreach programs for today’s teens.
Join us: Tuesdays, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. every week during the school year, starting mid-September,
at The Crossing, our youth center located on Euclid Ave., a half-block east of the church.
Wyldlife averages about 30-40 Jr. High kids and makes for a wild, crazy, and great atmosphere We have a handful of committed high school & adult leaders who show up every week.
We emphasize relational youth ministry and realize that we are able to meet the needs of many youth by combining both evangelistic ministry alongside the needed discipleship part of ministry. Our schedule alternates between “program” night one week and “campaigner” night the next week. Program nights consist of crazy and fun-filled games, alongside skits and music, providing a safe place for kids be themselves and break down the walls they may typically have separating them from a church environment. We include an introductory talk about Jesus and the life we are called to live. When they return for Campaigner nights, we aren’t quite as crazy with games: We leave more time to go a little deeper in our discussions and split into small groups (by grade and by gender) to provide the opportunity to ask the tough questions and go deeper if they would like. Throughout it all, youth are supported and encouraged by college students (mostly from Whitworth University) who understand the challenges of teen life today.
Young Life (High School Ministry)
Our Sr. High Young Life club meets on Mondays, 6:00 -8:00 p.m. during the school year. Our group averages 40-55 high school students and is a very welcoming environment. We do a variety of things within our weekly groups: games, worship, skits, talks, small groups, dinners together and some service nights. Just like Wyldlife, Young Life participants enjoy great relationships with mentors who are college students - and beyond - to support them in their own faith journeys.
