Here's What's Happening At STAR Club!

Star Club is a nonreligious outreach to the elementary kids in our neighborhood.  This club is a free after-school program held in the Millwood Community Center on Mondays and Wednesdays throughout the school year.  The motto of our club is "We Make Others Shine".

Volunteer leaders reinforce positive character traits such as good sportsmanship and kindness.  Kids are rewarded for positive behavior by earning stars on their name tag in which 10 stars equals a prize from the prize box.  The club consists mostly of 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders who attend Orchard Center Elementary, though some homeschooled children attend as well.

A typical day at Star Club includes snack time, homework or gym games, and an activity such as making snow slime, building bird houses, or an art/craft project.  Activities vary daily and have included guest presenters such as the Whitworth Basketball Team, SCRAPS, and a STEM project instructed by the local Spokane County Library District librarian.
