Who has leadership and authority during this process? What can we expect from our Session, the Interim Pastor and the Presbytery?
As always in a Presbyterian Church, the Session holds final decision-making authority for all financial and programmatic decisions. Staff members create and facilitate programs, offer guidance based on past experience, and make recommendations, but the Session has the ultimate authority. Deacons serve the congregation in practical ways as always. The Interim Pastor moderates the Session, offers guidance in working through the process, serves the church as pastor and preacher, and serves as head of staff. The Presbytery assists in locating an interim pastor, coaches the Pastor Nominating Committee (PNC) on how to do their work, does background checks on candidates, interviews final candidates for theological soundness and fitness to serve, and leads a service of installation for the new pastor.
Is there a dedicated communications role to help keep the congregation informed of decisions, budget, etc., during this transition period of leadership?

Are any further staffing changes expected in the foreseeable future?
Staff changes are very common during an interim period, but we aren’t aware of any more that are planned. One impact of change is that we have chosen to postpone Star Club until fall while our new children’s director (Rocky Abbott) becomes familiar with our ministries.
Are there members of Session or staff who have reached out to families/members we have lost during the period of transition?
Yes, and yet there is more to be done.
Pastoral Nominating Committee (PNC)
Applications are open until February 28, 2019 for those who wish to be considered for the Pastoral Nominating Committee. Members of the Officer Nominating Committee (Herb McIntosh, Gary Harris, Gene Kicha, Terral Schut, Becky Anderson, Mike Lehman, Joel Hughes and Sandy Hackett) will review these and recommend seven individuals representing various demographics for election at a congregational meeting on March 17.
