First Annual
Millwood 5K Wellness Run
For Families, First-Timers, Fanatics and Fun

This year benefiting:
Community Residents – HEIDI TOBLER & SHERI ALBRECHT who are running the Nike Women’s Marathon and raising money to benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. All proceeds from the race will go to
the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society as part of Heidi and Sheri's fundraising efforts.

When: August 29, 2009
9 a.m. (registration and pick-up begins at 8 a.m.)

Where: The City of Millwood, WA,
Corner of Marguerite & Euclid
The race starts and ends in the parking lot of Millwood Presbyterian Church, where the  Millwood Farmer's Market meets.

Course: (Start) Marguerite – Liberty – Coleman – Bridgeport – Park – S. Riverway – Sargent – Liberty – Dale – S. Riverway – Marguerite (Finish)  3 miles total.

Amenities: T-shirt (guaranteed for all pre-registered participants), lots of door prizes, refreshments, and awards.

Entry Fee: $12 (due on or before August 20). Early bird entrants get two chances in the door prize drawing. Late registration fee (after August 20) is $15. FAMILIES pay $30.

Age Groups: 10 & under, 11- 14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69 and 70+.

Awards: Awards for top 3 overall and age-group winners in Runner category. Top 3 overall in Walker category win awards as well. LOTS of Door Prizes are open to all participants and the grand prize is something EXTRA SPECIAL!! Early bird entrants get two chances in the door prize drawing.

Registration is not complete until the registration fee has been paid.

Millwood Community Garden Meeting, March 11, 7pm - Friday, March 05, 2010
West Valley residents, businesses and churches are partnering with Inland Empire Paper to organize a community garden at the site of the old pumpkin patch on the corner of Argonne and Maringo. There are plans for individual plots, row crops for Second Harvest Food Bank, and a native wildflower border. Come to the meeting if you are interested in learning more or participating. Meeting at the Crossing Youth Center, 8919 East Euclid, Spokane, WA 99212. 
Millwood Food Bank March 12, 12-2 pm - Friday, March 05, 2010
Millwood Presbyterian is partnering with Second Harvest Inland Northwest and others to distribute fresh and healthy food to low income families and those in need of food assistance. No appointment or documentation is necessary to participate. Recipients must be present in order to receive food.  Please bring a box. The Food Bank distribution takes place in the church parking lot, 3223 N. Marguerite Rd., and is available the second Friday of every month from 12 – 2
