In the fall of 2006, Millwood Presbyterian Church, Spokane Valley Young Life, Hutton Settlement, the West Valley School District, and many others joined forces to create a community center for young people in the West Valley of Spokane. After six months of hard work and close to $100,000 in donations and volunteer labor, the facility is complete.
The Facility: The Crossing is a 1500 square foot multi-purpose room that includes a pool table and foosball table, state of the art multi-media, coffee bar & espresso machine, and bathroom facilities. It's primary use is for youth activities and events although it is open to other uses by organizations that share our and mission and vision for youth. This includes services to families.
Mission Statement: Bringing the resources of West Valley and young people together.
Vision: To provide local middle school and high students with a safe and positive place, helping them grow into people full of integrity, passion, and character.
Core Values:
1) Caring Relationships: Facilitate healthy mentor relationships with adults and positive peer relationships for young people of West Valley.
2) Safe Place: Provide a facility that is attractive and enjoyable for local students to have fun, be encouraged, and grow into mature adults.
3) Combining Resources: Dynamic cooperation between organizations in the community maximizing the impact of local efforts to create positive futures for young people.
